This might hold out for a while but eventually it will not make economic sense to pay silicon valley wages to people living in decided non-silicon valley income areas. It might not be fair but now that employees don't have to be physically in the office, it allows companies to drive down the wages. Enjoy it while you can.
- xtat 6y agoMaybe a little but also: that's better than pretending people have different market value when they move locations
- cassianoleal 6y agoWhy would they have to? Not all the best engineers are on Silicon Valley, and many who are would gladly move out. Sure, they won't hire the ones who are there and not willing to move out but that's probably a small pool compared to the rest of the world.
