World now has 500 unicorns, 70% of which in US and China
- Bologo 6y agoWhen I first read that, I thought they meant real unicorns (i.e. horses with horns), not billion-dollar startups
- elindbe2 6y agoNow I'm imagining the US and China running competing genetic modification programs to develop their own unicorns.
- captaincole 6y agoAs someone who is in this field (work at a company that does secondary market transactions), I'm very curious as to why this explosion of growth is happening. I see two examples that aren't directly related to the articles point of money looking for high growth opportunities in a low interest rate environment 1) Increasing capital in the private market has lead to a decrease in value of this benefit of being public (raising large capital rounds) 2) Decreasing regulatory barriers for participation in the private market I'm curious as to how other HNers who may work for these companies feel?
