Reggie Fowler owes lawyers $600k
- sebmellen 6y ago> Hogan Lovells attorneys James McGovern and Michael Hefter initially asked for a $25,000 retainer in late 2018 when they first met with their client. Fowler only ever paid the retainer, and two years later, he now owes them $600,000. This sounds like the fault of the lawyers, to be honest. Football players are notorious for being bad with money and often end up broke. That they didn't request payment for 2 years and bought his stories is crazy.
- toyg 6y agoBit of a victim blaming there, but it's definitely a case of " if you owe the bank $1,000 you have a problem, if you owe the bank $1,000,000 the bank has a problem"...
- mnw21cam 6y agoI think there are traditionally a few more zeros there.
- ptaipale 6y agoNowadays it's more like: If you own the bank $10,000, you have a problem. If you own the bank $10,000,000, the bank has a problem. If you own the bank $10,000,000,000, the government has a problem.
- toyg 6y agoLol, I guess the amount of zeros you add depends on your background and what you would lose sleep over.
- amycastor 6y agoThat is not true. They were asking for payment from him all through 2019 and 2020. The problem was they were set to go to trial, and there was no way they were going to do all that trial prep for no money. Plus the relationship was damaged by his continual stringing them along.

- amycastor 6y agoExactly. He is paying all of his other lawyers but not his defense team. No idea what the plan is.
