Nonsense. Fraudsters use protonmail because it’s particularly easy to create new accounts.
- henearkr 6y agoIt's straightforward to create new accounts everywhere, including in GMail. Why to single out ProtonMail then? Personally I have been approached by fraudsters and their email was on GMail, not ProtonMail...
- ryanlol 6y agoIt’s not very straightforward to create gmail accounts with proxies, and google loves to randomly ban fresh accounts.
- meowster 6y agoGoogle loves to ban old accounts you haven't logged into in awhile if you don't provide them a phone number.
- renewiltord 6y agoGmail needs a phone number. Proton Mail doesn't. That's why my email is with the latter.
- herbst 6y agoPhone verification services are like 10 cents on average. Aged gmail accounts available from 30 cents or less
- ryanlol 6y ago> Aged gmail accounts available from 30 cents or less They’re frustratingly unreliable, but definitely an option. Nobody is claiming that fraudsters only use protonmail.
- herbst 6y agoI am using aged accounts regularly and rarely run into issues, you just need the right type of account and know a bit about the protection you are fighting against.
- mattmanser 6y agoThe reality is we're seeing most fraudsters on ProtonMail too, I'm afraid. We considered just banning it as we're quite small, just over 10k members.

- schappim 6y agoThis is 100% correct. The bulk of fraud on our electronics ecommerce store comes from protonmail accounts. We treat the following domains in emails as sus: https://gist.github.com/schappim/c433ac8cd2e3a17a5ca7996b56cd7518 https://gist.github.com/schappim/c433ac8cd2e3a17a5ca7996b56c...
- shmoogy 6y agoVery legit list, checked for some I know of and they were all here.
