For me, these are the three things a Linux distro needs to nail nowadays:
- HDPI
- Battery
- Touchpad
OUT OF THE BOX. Like other OSes.
The other thing that sounds weird from this article is "Windows and Mac are hard to setup". This guy must be very very specific.
- heavyset_go 6y agoI have an HDPI display, and Plasma Desktop has support for fractional scaling out of the box.
- gfiorav 6y agoYes, but it's not configured automatically and things mess up when you switch from you monitor to your laptop. Also, gtk3 apps look blurry when upscaled sometimes.
- heavyset_go 6y agoI just booted off of a Ubuntu live image, and it scales correctly.
- gfiorav 6y agoNot fractional though. If the correct scaling is 200%, or 300%, then yes, it works. If it's 140% you're out of luck for automatic. Also, when you unplug the monitor, the windows are messed up. On top of that, a lot of GTK3 apps look blurry with fractional scaling (icluding Chrome).
