So who will have access to this? DeepMind never publishes their models.
- randcraw 6y agoI suspect DM will sell this as a service, especially to corporations like pharmas who create small molecule drugs. If their method works as advertised, it may rejuvenate the flagging prospects of Rational Drug Design, the guiding R&D drug development methodology behind most new molecular entities (drugs) for the past ~25 years, which has not proven to be the clear economic win that had been hoped.
- TomJansen 6y agoAccording to [1], they must release enough information for others to replicate the AI model: "As a condition of entering CASP, DeepMind—like all groups—agreed to reveal sufficient details about its method for other groups to re-create it. That will be a boon for experimentalists, who will be able to use accurate structure predictions to make sense of opaque x-ray and cryo-EM data."
