The Variety, Bloomberg and TechCrunch stories have more meat, especially regards Net Neutrality repeal and Section 230 attempts. - dredmorbius 6y agoAnd it seems my own submission's taken off despite my noting it was a dupe of this post. Life's not fair ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25256605 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25256605
- dbg31415 6y agoOh no, shame to see him go! Not. What a total wanker.
- irrational 6y agoHow long will it take the new FCC chairman to reverse Pai's policies such as his take on Net Neutrality? Can the new chairman just come in on day one and overturn everything?
- dredmorbius 6y agoGood question. The Variety article suggests not long: With Democrats taking control of the FCC, the agency’s net neutrality order is expected to be swiftly reinstated. https://variety.com/2020/digital/news/fcc-ajit-pai-leave-january-2021-biden-president-1234842166/ https://variety.com/2020/digital/news/fcc-ajit-pai-leave-jan... FCC's rulemaking process: https://www.fcc.gov/general/rulemaking-fcc https://www.fcc.gov/general/rulemaking-fcc There are multiple steps, though much "may" language (optional processes). I'm going to venture a few months, possibly faster. A new appointment will be required.
- dvdhnt 6y agoGood question. I don't know. I do remember the public comment period that happened before his regime implemented changed. Can anyone explain that process? Would such a period be required for reversals of current FCC policies?
