My previous jobs, everyone was legally was allowed to use their vacation. Nobody did. I had a coworker whose mother died in Italy/Romania. Somewhere over there. He took vacation time to go to funeral. We even legally have bereavement leave. When he got back from this vacation he got publicly chewed out for having very bad numbers. Apparently he was expected to continue working during his vacation/funeral. Last job? Don't even use the V word. NOBODY is allowed time off. 1 guy his wife was american and he look the entire year off for paternity. Legally allowed to do this. The owner/boss went around talking about how he should fire him. Another guy needed emergency surgery and was even briefly put in coma because he had bad blood sugar and couldnt do the surgery. He was actually fired for taking time off.
