The problem is if I were to flash AOSP on to my Note 9, it'd blow an eFuse and limit my future options IRT reselling the thing. If I did the same with a Sony Xperia XA2 (which I did) the eFuse means I can never get OTA updates again.

Sure, you wouldn't necessarily get OTA updates for stock firmware, but doesn't LineageOS provides its own OTA updates?

  Yes, but if you flash back to Sony's ROM, you still won't get updates - it's a one way trip.
