As someone who grew up in west Texas, the struggle is real to not sound like a moronic hick. I do a pretty good job, unless I spend any more than a day or two around relatives, then it takes me a couple of weeks to stop the drawl. Biggest difference for me though, is my regional vocabulary. For example, a refrigerator will always be an icebox for me.
