Wouldn't it be nice if instead of Boris reaping back these billions of taxpayer £s he's spending because of Covid, he actually charged Google, McDonald's, Starbucks, Amazon, et al a reasonable amount of tax, and we the public didn't suffer for decades over something the big companies would earn back in two financial years?
- lucian1900 6y agoWhy would he do that? He’s a Tory, the oldest bourgeois party in the world. They’re all about profit at the expense of public suffering.
- Barrin92 6y agoOne-Nation Conservatism is pretty big in the UK, the analog to Chrsitian Democracy on the European continent. While it's pretty unlikely for American Conservatives to ever reign tech in, there's actually a pretty good chance that this has broad bipartisan appeal in the UK, in particular because this is where the Tories have been moving for the last few years anyway. Some people characterised Cameron as a one-nation Tory, May explicitly identified as one and even Boris has made efforts to try to regain ordinary voters.
