Why did it take nine hours to go 130 miles in our new electric Porsche?
- speedgoose 6y agoWhile there is for sure some challenges with non functional chargers and it can be more challenging to travel with an electric car as you may need to plan a bit , this story is a bit weird. I'm sure this couple did struggle, but I think it's more than a lack of luck. The first clue is needing 9 hours to drive 130 miles with a vehicle having more than 250 miles of range and that charge very fast, in an area with plenty of fast chargers. They said they left Bournemouth with 45miles of range, I looked at the plugshare map and around the Porsche center and there is plenty of fast chargers in the area. Perhaps they were all broken but that's very strange.

I can still remember being an early-adopter in the early days of personal computers, when computer retailers were very few and very far between. It took a special trip of 300km (180 miles) to buy a box of floppy disks for $60. If the machine needed anything serviced it was another 300 km trip. Give it another 10 years and maybe it might be convenient enough to lash out on an EV. But until then, I will rely on petrol as my fuel.
