I kind of get your point but please don't try to say that USB-C wasn't a thing until Apple adopted it. It's absolutely false and Apple was just the lame late adopter. They can't even get it right, in 2020, after everyone else had figured it out: https://www.forbes.com/sites/barrycollins/2020/04/24/why-you-shouldnt-charge-your-macbook-pro-from-the-left-hand-side/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/barrycollins/2020/04/24/why-you...
- sercand 6y agoApple was the first company that adopted USB-C in a laptop which was 2015 12" Macbook.
- simlevesque 6y ago"adopted" is a strong word. They dipped their toes.
- pseudalopex 6y agoIt had no other ports.
- sjwright 6y agoAs did every new laptop Apple made from then on.
- sercand 6y agoThe Macbook 12-inch had only one port which shows they were totally into it in laptops. iPhone still not switched to USB-C (maybe they never will) and it is a big mistake for Apple.
- sbuk 6y agoSome of that may be down to do with the ridiculous press/social media noise that flew around when they change from 30-pin to lightning - once bitten and all of that.
- mschuster91 6y ago> iPhone still not switched to USB-C (maybe they never will) and it is a big mistake for Apple. They will have to, the EU will force them.
- reissbaker 6y agoDecent chance the next iPhone will go portless and only charge wirelessly. So the EU may not get a chance. Which will still be nice from a standards perspective, since the iPhone uses the Qi standard.
- p1mrx 6y agoiPhone dropped the Qi standard for rates above 7.5 watts: https://www.theverge.com/2020/10/13/21514850/apple-iphone-12-magsafe-wireless-charging-speed https://www.theverge.com/2020/10/13/21514850/apple-iphone-12...
