If the ARM chipmakers haven’t bothered to invest to catch up to Apple’s A series in order to compete better in the large phone and tablet market, they’re not likely to invest to catch up to the harder to reach M series in the smaller PC market. There is a fair chance the M1 will be remarkable in how little impact it has on the rest of the industry.
