I've sometimes wondered what a hypothetical super-intelligent being could program using a BBC Micro. Perhaps they could exploit the resonances of the circuits to perform analogue computation? I heard that evolutionary algorithms sometimes exploit the physical properties of circuits, and so to control for that there are two computers running the same code at different temperatures. I think they literally put one in a fridge.
