Show HN: A GPS for any map (Android app)
- _august 6y agoCool idea, does it work completely offline? The description seems to say it needs an internet connection to add the map.
- arkolos 6y agoThank you. When you add a new map, the app needs to know where it's located. So, you'll have to take 2 keypoints of your map (e.g. cities) and search for them in the app. To do so an internet connection is needed. Once you've done this, the position of the map is stored so you can reuse it whenever you want and be located on your map without internet connection
- djbeadle 6y agoA similar project is Maplets [1] which contains a database of "national parks, state parks, metro maps, bus systems, ski resorts, universities, theme parks". Some are georeferenced already but many are not. You can also scan and upload maps yourself [2].
