- dweekly 6y agoHi there, HN! BLRB founder here. Would love your feedback on this tool we've built to post short speech (<5min) easily to the web with your voice & transcript included.
- forgotmypw17 6y agoMy feedback is that you consider making your service accessible to nojs users.
- dweekly 6y agoThanks so much! I am not sure there is a way to capture audio from a browser without JavaScript. Do you know if it's possible?
- forgotmypw17 6y agoYes, by allowing file upload of recorded file.
- dweekly 6y agoWould you use a service that required you to use a separate application to record and then visit a website to select and upload that recording? That seems like a lot of work to publish, especially for what's intended to be casual / short-form content. Would a downloadable app be a preferential way for you to publish speech content?
- forgotmypw17 6y agoBecause of past abuse, I rarely install apps. It doesn't seem like that much work to use built in voice recorder app and upload the file.
- dweekly 6y agoOkie-dok! We'll add this to our backlog to implement. Thanks so much for the input!
- forgotmypw17 6y agoThank you for listening and asking questions. It is refereshing.
- chrisweekly 6y agoDisclaimer: I'm the OP's big brother. UX feedback: seeing this for the 1st time. Only took a few seconds to understand it and authn via twitter, and create my 1st blrb. The "edit" fn seemed unresponsive (at least before I tapped "save"). But it works, and I appreciate the focus on doing one simple thing. The transcription was pretty good, just a few v minor errors. I was quick to trust use of twitter for auth bc I know who you are, but was surprised at how frictionless it was -- did I really not see any disclaimers or opt-in / legalese at all?
- dweekly 6y agoHi brother! What wasn't working about transcript editing? FYI, our Twitter permissions are read-only. We just use this to make logging in easy and bootstrap your BLRB profile with your public Twitter info: a username, full name, bio, and profile picture. The terms are at blrb.co/terms and privacy at blrb.co/privacy - all based on GitHub's docs.
