Well you did amplify it by commenting on it... I don't really get why the other comment was so bad though. And it sounds like you're saying a better thing to do is just quietly feel empathy and express some vague generic words of acknowledgement. Which will inevitably be followed by promptly forgetting about it and going back to our normal lives, like 99% of us reading this thread will do. What good does that really do? And what harm does it really do to discuss/debate different aspects of this situation, and learn more details about what's going on?
