I remember hearing an interview with someone high up at coke at that time and his response was something along the lines of- we weren't that smart and we weren't that dumb.

I guess the logic is "people that smart couldn't have acted that dumb so they must have been acting dumb on purpose" It's the common thread. From Coke to Kennedy (where people tend to think the Secret Service is way too smart to have been beaten by one idiot in a 6th floor window so there must have been a conspiracy)
- seats 15y agoI really wish I could find this interview, it was pretty good. I'm positive it was on NPR, but I can't find it. I wasn't the recent This American Life coke recipe piece, it was more of a historical story of coke. They talked about their strategy of making coke available to all GIs overseas during war time, etc.
- TomOfTTB 15y agoI don't know what interview you're talking about but this is one of the best books I've ever read and it (obviously) covers the same territory: http://www.amazon.com/God-Country-Coca-Cola-Definitive-American/dp/0465054684/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304696321&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/God-Country-Coca-Cola-Definitive-Ameri...
