Show HN: Run a temporary DNS server that resolves a hostname to the current IP
- LinuxBender 6y agoIt does its thing inside a docker container so nothing has to be installed. This is a shell script that installs Unbound DNS and sets a redirect for the host specified in the script. Did you mean that nothing has to be installed in the docker image? Either way, you should check to see if they already have Unbound installed and not clobber their configuration file. Hopefully most people would figure this out before running the script, but it is just a suggestion. If they do have it installed, consider adding a file to /etc/unbound/conf.d/ and running the config check first before reloading and after the unbound-checkconf returns status code 0. unbound-checkconf
- mg 6y agoIt installs and configures unbound in a Docker container. So it does not matter if unbound is installed on the host or not. It changes no files on the host except temporarily /etc/resolv.conf for as long as it runs.
