Show HN: I made a simple tool to sell your services on a subscription basis
- fizzbuzzah 6y agolove it. hopefully you will have buyers.
- purplecats 6y agowhat does this add on top of stripe?
- anonytrary 6y agoNothing. It's SIAAS (Stripe integration as a service).
- purplecats 6y agoWhat are they providing? Stripe is supposed to be simple, I'm not sure how it could be much simpler without losing out on fidelity. I just integrated it into my web app and although it took longer than I would have liked, they all seem like necessary components. Using a SIAAS would 1) expose a larger surface area for trouble around sensitive matters 2) cause them to deal with things that I didn't explicitly specify granted that their abstraction will be leaky
- lakshmananm 6y agoAs of now this is a no code subscription style billing tool for freelancers. Also want to add some integration features so you can embed this on your site.
- cow9 6y agoHow is this different from Chargify or ChargeBee?
- lakshmananm 6y agoIt's a no code tool to accept subscription payments, built for freelancers.
- _hoysala_ 6y agoWhy would I use this instead of Stripe?
- sneak 6y agoIt's not free if you charge processing fees. The fact that these are industry standard for accepting credit cards does not make your "free" claim accurate.
- lakshmananm 6y agoGotcha, will make that clear in the landing page.
- ethanwillis 6y agoI need to see integration code.
- TacoSteemers 6y agoFYI: When users ask their browsers to disable various tracking assets, pictures from twimg.com don't load on other domains.
- lakshmananm 6y agothank you, didn't know that
- anonytrary 6y ago@dang this is spam with a clever title. @OP so you're providing a wrapper around the stripe widget? I'm confused. What's the value add? This just looks like a marketing page around native stripe services which probably takes a service (application) fee for doing little to nothing.
- rubatuga 6y agoYou don't know unless you see what they are offering.
- anonytrary 6y agoI made an assumption based off the landing page. If they're offering more than that, then they didn't represent.
- ethanwillis 6y agoI'm not giving up an email address to see that.
- lakshmananm 6y agoIt's a no code subscription style billing tool for freelancers. What in the title did you find misleading?
- XCSme 6y ago> Work with clients from all over the world and accept any currency. This means that you also handle all local tax compliances? It is not clear what your tool actually does apart from just exposing the Stripe API with an UI. There is no "features" section on the landing page, only stating benefits which you already get from using Stripe.
- slovette 6y agoGood god, people on here and tearing this apart. This is not a tool targeted for the typical HN’r. If you’re response to this is: “I’d need to look at the code” it’s obviously not for you. Without going too deep, I can definitely see it’s uses for the “non-techy” freelance people I know. To slap a simple link onto their squarespace page and be able to collect revenue for services, without adding another complicated service to manage or subscription to sign up for to do it, is attractive for sure. HN forgets sometimes they’re in a bubble. Most people can’t install a printer right on their computers, let alone deal with an online store. I can see value here.
- lakshmananm 6y agothank you so much, appreciate the comment.
