Parler: Announcents blog creds exposed. Main site not affected
- newacct583 6y agoPrevious story here seems to have disappeared from HN's new submissions list: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25203846 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25203846 Guys, I know this is going to turn into a partisan mudfest, but this is a real hack and a legitimate security problem with a popular (albeit partisan) website. A lot of people are going to be affected, it's going to drive news. HN needs to be allowed to discuss it.
- trynewideas 6y agoExcept this specific one isn't. It's the blog they use for announcements, not the network.
- torartc 6y agoThis is actually hilarious. Their keys all just hanging out in a php file. Also, who thinks building a social network on WordPress is a good idea.
- js2 6y ago> Sorry, to clarify: this is not Parler's social media platform, as far as I can tell, but rather their ancillary blog that they use for announcements, et cetera. IOW, I'm virtually certain Parler isn't running WP. No DMs were likely hacked.
- torartc 6y agoHow disappointingly misleading.
- vinnyglennon 6y agoUpdated the title, to be more accurate.
