GNU.FREE's development formally stopped (2002)
- slondr 6y agoIt's funny that a subject so thoroughly put to rest in 2002 is still a subject of constant debate in the blogosphere.
- notRobot 6y agoWhoa, really? This is not something I'd heard about previously. Do you have any links where I can learn more?
- tipsysquid 6y agoNot OP, but perhaps they are referring to secure voting systems in general.
- notRobot 6y agoAh, that makes sense, thanks.
- Kim_Bruning 6y agoI thought it was put to rest too, until I talked with some Estonians. There's at least one government out there that's working on internet voting The Hard Way. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_voting_in_Estonia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_voting_in_Estonia
- MaxBarraclough 6y agoI hadn't heard of GNU.FREE despite having an interest in both GNU and voting systems. Doesn't strike me as a great loss really though. As the article mentions, Bruce Schneier makes a solid case against electronic voting systems. [0] If such systems must exist I'd rather they use Free software, but it would be better if electronic voting systems didn't exist in the first place.
