I'll use this thread to share one of my oft-wished features: all mobile apps should come with an on/off toggle, too. Sure, I can delete the app, but if I think I want it in 2 weeks (say, while travelling), there are a lot of activities I might want to disable for some duration, without deleting or losing the local data.

It's not exactly what you're asking for, but disabling background battery and data use for an app on android makes it pretty hard for the app to do much.

If you're on Android: root and freeze the app with Titanium Backup
