I'm sure veracrypt on the cheap drive works very well, but I dont want to think about usb drives ever again so if I can make the problem go away (and its the customer/company paying for it) i'll buy the product with off the shelf capabilities.
- Daviey 6y agoThe never having to think about it, in this context is don't use them. A significant amount of government and businesses have blanket bans on USB pendrives and disable USB mass-storage in the mobile devices themselves. Making solutions that do not require carrying of sensitive material on portable devices is a much safer approach.
- elliotpage 6y agoAgreed, my own day job enforces this (much to the chagrin of users who assume they can)
- yread 6y agoAren't USB sticks like these used in air-gapped systems? So, a bit more security-sensitive than "just" banning USB pendrives and gluing the USB ports.
