Could mass production conceivably reduce the cost of such full wafer chips below $100k? Interesting to note that at nvidia “professional-purpose” GPU extortion racket prices, this would be a $60m chip. (Every single day, it pisses me off that my Quadro K6000 cost me $6k, and was necessary in order for the nvidia driver to not be intentionally broken when I run CAD/CAM software).
- petra 6y agoA wafer generally costs $4K-$7, last I checked, I'm not really up to date. The server around it, with it's packaging and unique cooling device, could certainly become much cheaper with volume. So with competition - sure, this may be $100K or less. But will there be competition ? And if not, why would they reduce the price so drastically, if it's still competitive ?
