My point is that if you want to pursue a non W-2 job, you are on your own for health insurance in many/most states. “art” could very well be freelance programming. With that in mind, how does widening the insurance group to include all (taxed) Americans make the situation worse for the average household? AFAICT the only folks who benefit from the “I don’t want to pay my neighbors Dr. bill” argument are the insurance companies.
