I have a tangential question. Would there be any technical reason why Apple only released a 13" version of the Macbook pro with the new M1 chip and not any of the larger versions of the Macbook pro or would this likely be a 'refresh schedule" consideration?
- forslar 6y agoI think that the pandemic may have had something to do with the lack of expanding, given that they already had the architecture in place to do 13" MBPs and MBAs. I think that next we will see more of the higher-end 4-port MBPs and/or perhaps with that also the refresh scheduled 14-inch ones.
- bogomipz 6y agoInteresting yeah that would make sense. The thing that I thought made this all all the more conspicuous was that they are basically launching this at the beginning of the holiday buying season so there's missed opportunity with people who like/want larger format MBPs. Cheers.
- theklr 6y agoThis is to calm the market. Granted they went for their highest selling macs, so that’s a pretty big sign of confidence. This is also the lowest risk as far as their SoC design goes as nothing in the iOS/iPadOS goes past 16GB. Being able to daisy chain multiple screens or handle eGPUs are more demanding. I suspect March-June well get a few more refreshes and then fall something major.
