I found out most people confound familiarity and "intuitiveness" when trying to teach Emacs. They would say it was not intuitive because common key shortcuts were not default. I would try to explain, to no avail I must say, that it is rather intuitive since, once you understand the basics, everything follows quite logically and key bindings are customizable.
