People with health insurance in the US typically get it through their employers. If you get sick enough to miss work for extended periods of time, you get fired. People will say “that doesn’t happen!” Happens all the time. Or they’ll say “but COBRA!” Sure. And without a job, you’ll be making those large premium payments.... how?
