Ask HN: Why does Amazon display “Country of Origin” in India but not elsewhere?

I would like to buy products based on where they are manufactured, but Amazon India (amazon.in) is the only website that display this information.. and the problem here is that when I find a product I like on Amazon India then it has an India-specific brand model that I can't find outside of Indian e-commerce websites.

Because other countries don't require that (or only for some product categories).

  Interesting.. it's strange more countries don't require this (and/or that companies want to hide it in the first place).
