IcepeakITX Elbrus-8CB: Mini-ITX Motherboard with MCST Elbrus8CB VLIW as CPU
- marty1885 6y agoI've wanted to play with large VLIW processors (Itanium is a disaster what we don't talk about. And there's litte support anyway). It's almost my dream. I hope this is real!
- aww_dang 6y agoInteresting board. Hadn't heard of Elbrus VLIW ISA. >Elbrus is a mini-ITX security-oriented motherboard... MCST’s proprietary C/C++ compiler and bootloader will be provided only as binary, because we do not have access to the source code of this part.
- sitzkrieg 6y agoopened to post this. total joke showstopper to consider open until an actual open source toolchain is ported to this weird architecture
- mhh__ 6y agoVLIW is just cool, regardless of whether or not it'll ever be truly worth it. The geographic origins of the hardware (Russia) may clash with the compiler and firmware being binary-only
- rurban 6y agoCool, a motherboard with Non-US backdoors, but Russian ones. Certainly usable for security purposes. The third option is to use Chinese backdoors, some of them even with two in one (Chinese plus US). This has at least only one.
