Apple to push ahead with controversial privacy feature opposed by Facebook
- arthurcolle 6y agoFuck Facebook. What a joke, arguing for less transparency for the very users they exploit for dollars. Yuck.

- DonHopkins 6y agoDon't you have any loved ones to consider? If not, then at least please think of your own life, because there's no more room for you in the hospital any more. Maddow: We feared Susan's Covid would kill her. Your risks could hurt those you love most. Rachel Maddow reveals that the reason for her ongoing quarantine is that her partner, Susan, tested positive for Covid-19 and is still recovering from severe symptoms, and implores viewers to consider their loved ones when they calculate their own Covid-19 risk. https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow/watch/maddow-we-feared-susan-s-covid-would-kill-her-your-risks-could-hurt-those-you-love-most-96272453820 https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow/watch/maddow-we-feared-s...
- arthurcolle 6y agoYou're not even in the US. Stop pandering to anonymous individuals on the internet and stop harassing me. You should get some help - you've been bothering me for 4 hours and I just want you to stop harassing me. Thanks!
- DonHopkins 6y agoAsking you not to harm yourself and others isn't harassment. What does my location have to do with anything, and who's anonymous? Your unhealthy behavior and disregard for safe public health practices is much more dangerous to yourself and other people than me simply asking you not to do it is to you. You're the one who's bragging about putting other people's lives in danger, and who needs to get some help to not harm other people. So stop endangering other people's health, and complaining when people ask you to stop. Thanks!
- MeinBlutIstBlau 6y agoI love how their main argument is "now we gotta work more because you won't let us do what we want!" Well...that's the game isn't it? If all browsers ditch flash and move to html5, you don't keep supporting flash. Also, maybe if you weren't so nosey across the whole fucking internet this wouldn't be an issue. Yeah I see you facebook.com on noscript on some of the most harmless of pages. Facebook container even shows me a little popup in the url when you're there too. Facebook's nose has been so far up the internet's ass that now finally some people are pushing away.
- arthurcolle 6y agoLmao yes. Perfect distillation. I wish I could use this line of reasoning everyday... oh wait, no I don't - because I'm not a total psychopath.
- tomjen3 6y agoIronically I can't read the article because it pops up a giant cookie banner without the legally required op out button.
- tannhaeuser 6y agoThe other source I found in English language news for this was Reuters, with even more draconian popups. Apart from this, there's only an article on faz.net in German. I expect EFF to blog about it soon since they're among the receivers of Apple's open letter.
- lapinot 6y agoAre you browsing without an ad-blocker? I can't see any kind of popup, but maybe that's because i'm using quite strict defaults with ublock+umatrix in whitelist mode (eg blocking everything non html/css/image by default). In any case, when i do see such popups i usually either click on any button that closes (including "accept all"), since i'm blocking everything downstream (why should i trust any of their opt-out anyway), or more brutally i just "zap" the popup with ublock (it auto-creates a rule that will blacklist the given dom element). This last method is particularly useful against the retorse "please login to continue" popup from youtube.
- 8fingerlouie 6y agoSo Facebook stands to lose up to 40% revenue from a practice of monitoring my every move on the internet, not only on their own site, but everywhere that has a "like on facebook" button ? Good Riddance. The practice of surveillance is in many democratic countries not even allowed for law enforcement without a court order, so the fact that Facebook thinks it's "their right" says a lot...
- throwawaymanbot 6y agoGOOD! FB has terrible a Agenda and leadership.
