Please use uBlock Origin.
- susam 6y agoI do use uBlock Origin in general. However, I disabled it while verifying if the download size claimed in this post is accurate.
- RussianCow 6y agoI don't think an ad blocker should be assumed when calculating the size of a web page.
- tshaddox 6y agoIt would depend on precisely what you're measuring. If you're concerned about page loading speeds, then resources that don't block rendering or functionality (like, I assume, a proper GA integration) might not be worth considering. But if you're worried about, say, bandwidth usage, then of course you'd want to count everything.
- RussianCow 6y agoThis is true, although any resources loaded introduce CPU overhead, which can be non-negligible, especially on mobile.
- Bud 6y agoAd blockers already don't work. They're largely useless. If you use one these days, you already know why.
- ffpip 6y agoI don't know why. Can you explain?
- Bud 6y agoBecause of the large and rapidly-increasing number of sites that just refuse to work if you are running an ad blocker, unless you manually disable it first.
- ffpip 6y agoCan you link any site that doesn't work? It is easy enough to try and get past anti-adblock with uBlock Origin. Try uBlock Origin. Don't use stuff like 'Adblock Plus/Pro'.
- RussianCow 6y agoI think I can count on my fingers the number of instances of this that I've seen in my many years of using an ad blocker, and I don't even remember the last time it happened. To claim that some tiny percentage of websites doing this makes ad blockers "useless" is completely ridiculous.
- jan6 6y agothey are LARGELY useful... they do what they say on the tin, at least unless you visit some super agressive site which uses anti-adblock, but, then again you can conf up an anti-anti-adblock ;)
