- mattryerson 6y agoI've heard that it AWS uses rust "heavily", but I'm pretty skeptical that this is true.
- ibraheemdev 6y agoWell, there are currently 100+ jobs listed that mention Rust [1] https://www.amazon.jobs/en-gb/search?base_query=Rust https://www.amazon.jobs/en-gb/search?base_query=Rust
- mattryerson 6y agoThat is more than I expected, but saying they use Rust a lot is still just speculation.
- nicoburns 6y agoit looks to me like they are at the point where they have a couple of key projects in Rust that they consider successful and looking to adopt it more widely. That adoption probably hasn't really happened yet, but it looks like the decision to go ahead with it has been made.
- bennjohnson 6y agoAWS seems to be at the very least interested in Rust. Both Firecracker and Bottlerocket are primarily written in Rust. And there is an official Rust runtime for Lambda. It would be nice to get some specifics about internal usage though.
- ibraheemdev 6y ago> Since we're building up a team to work on Rust I now get to do more Rust-based phone screens and coding interviews. It sounds like they are hiring Rust developers quite a bit too.
