Google is rolling out end-to-end encryption for RCS is in Android Messages beta
- mtgx 6y ago> meaning neither carriers nor Google will be able to read the content of those messages. I wonder how true that really is. A few years ago Google launched a Google Assistant feature where the Assistant would basically be reading everything in your chat apps. At the time the feature was developer opt-in. I imagine Google itself would want to opt into that, too, if it hasn't already for its Messages app. Great if it actually gets end-to-end encryption - it's actually one of my main criticisms for Google's focus switch from Allo to Messages/RCS. However, it would still be disappointing if Google itself was still able to read those messages. Same with Apple automatically backing up iMessages in the iCloud with no way to disable that feature alone except for completely disabling iCloud sync.
