Svelte is better than Vue and React, IMHO, especially for typical startups building typical websites. Svelte is faster to learn, makes smarter decisions, and has compile-time checking.
I teach all 3 to teams, and the top advantages of each as I see them: React for job opportunities and pre-built sophisticated code (e.g. Telerik Kendo), Vue for easy on ramp for JS/CSS/HTML developers who want to phase in dynamics (e.g. sprinkle ins akin to Alpline JS), and Svelte + Sapper for the best developer experience and fastest sites.
- fraktl 6y agoSo what you're saying is that the framework that's got the least active ecosystem, least amount of devs that use it and that you can hire, least amount of resources is the best for startups - companies that need to grow, find employees, onboard them and teach them the tooling; and the best choice is the least supported one? I'm not trying to offend you, but if you teach people all 3 frameworks and you tell startups to use the least supported one - can you see why that might horrible? Honestly, I'm skeptical about your ability about any of the 3 frameworks, you teaching them to people doesn't attest to your ability at all. Suggesting to use the least supported one - does. I despise React, I suggest React to all the newcomers. Reason: larger market. They'll get a job quicker. They'll find resources to learn it at any corner.

- pier25 6y agoBeen using all 3 for some years now and I 100% agree with your points. Also focused on Svelte now.
- graftak 6y agoTo me the lack of type checking support in svelte (or vue) templates alone is already a mayor 'developer experience' deficit compared to tsx.
- cageface 6y agoThis is the one thing that gives me pause about Svelte. I see a lot of quality of life improvements there compared to react but full type checking all the way through to templates is massively helpful.
