The cards have a very first gen Ryzen feel. There's nothing they just clearly do better than the competition(except having more memory, which is kind of indirectly is analogous with Ryzen generally having more cores than the Intel chips in the same price tier), and still somethings they do a bit poorly in, but AMD is no longer embarrassingly behind. Of course this may not pan out the same way as Nvidia isn't up against the same kind of wall Intel was in the CPU market, so AMD might have a tougher time keeping up, but I'm hopeful that competition is back in the GPU market and will stick around.
- snvzz 6y ago>There's nothing they just clearly do better than the competition As far as I can tell, they're doing better at power efficiency, open Linux drivers, performance vs price and availability (stocks instantly ran out, but their supply chain is supposedly much better).
- dralley 6y agoThat's likely down to TSMC 7nm vs Samsung 8nm rather than anything AMD did specifically.
- canada_dry 6y ago> open Linux drivers +1 THIS! The linux 5.10 kernel will support this new series.
- hajile 6y agoIf you play competitive games or just like 240Hz monitors, AMD simply blows away Nvidia in performance.
- redisman 6y agoIn what way? Top cards from both can easily hit 240 FPS in esports titles. Heck, even the midrange cards from both this generation will.
- onli 6y agoHey, that's simply not true this generation. Have a look at https://www.computerbase.de/2020-11/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt-test/3/#diagramm-performancerating-1920-1080 https://www.computerbase.de/2020-11/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt-te..., https://www.computerbase.de/2020-11/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt-test/3/#diagramm-anno-1800-1920-1080 https://www.computerbase.de/2020-11/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt-te... shows individual gaming results. AMD does not reach higher FPS on lower resolutions, so they are not a better fit for 240Hz gaming. Which does not mean that the cards are bad or worse! They are just not better in that category than in other categories, like 4K gaming.
