Why is it disappointing?

Some people love fanless solutions. No need to worry about dust.

If it has a hole, dust will find a way. My RPi's are fanless and I have to clean them. Not often, but I've cleaned them more than my laptop (which, to be honest, I've never cleaned).

And moving parts make a system less durable. And cooling itself requires energy.

Noise is more complex than that. Big slow fan is silent. Some electronic components might emit sounds without any moving parts.

It would take a lot of dust to block enough air to lower the cooling performance to a macbook air.
