Show HN: Homelab – self-hosted website about my Homelab
- pvg 6y agoTake a look at https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html Show HN is for something you've made that other people can play with. HN users can try it out, give you feedback, and ask questions in the thread Home setups are fun but not really a Show HN topic since they're not things you've made other HN users can try.
- hstaab 6y agoThis website is being served from said setup, no? I think that constitutes “trying it out”.
- pvg 6y agoNot really, you can search previous posts where this has been covered. There's always some way to wedge almost anything in any relatively informal forum rules but this sort of thing is not in the spirit of 'Show HN', just like blogposts aren't. Doesn't mean they're bad posts, they're just not Show HNs.
- rubatuga 6y agoNo NAS?
- Jaruzel 6y agoIt wont stay that tidy for long ;)
- armoredkitten 6y agoOk, as someone who doesn't know a whole lot about homelabs/home servers....can someone explain why there are so many ethernet cables? What role are they all serving, exactly? I see two servers and an RPi, don't see any network storage, so....what are the other four cables doing?
- PH01 6y agoNot to cast aspersions but a big part of the homelab "scene" appears to be aesthetics. If you look at Reddit's /r/homelab/ the majority of the top posts over the past year are about how things look. Variations of "wife acceptance factor" are a regular topic of conversation.
- ashitlerferad 6y agoAPs, IP cams, not pictured.
- fbrncci 6y agoAlways admired your build, and it has been my initial inspiration to kick off and work on my own homelab.
- friednews 6y agoDo you have rng generator also or security hardware ?
