While I am an obsessive fan of 538 (I've even ordered a Fivey Fox hoodie), I'm a little amused at Nate talking down prediction markets. It seems to me that if he thinks his predictions are that much better, he should be massively personally invested in those markets, using his better knowledge to clean up.
