Unfortunately the Bay Area has squandered (or simply exhausted) its imagination capital. The region is more associated with the political shenanigans of social media users and companies than creation of cool, subversive technology. And as far as the VC pull, it's diminished with capital flight, and I expect the next boom will see a lot of startup activity on the Front Range.
