- freehunter 6y agoMaybe people wouldn't be leaving if they weren't paying $8k/mo for an apartment that's an hour commute from their office?
- burnthrow 6y agoAnd yet, a cheaper COL "build-up" city like NYC is experiencing similar flight due particularly to high density. And SF is (or was) the second densest large city in the US.
- ghaff 6y agoOnly in the context of SF is NYC (esp. Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn) a cheaper CoL city. (Though I think it does demonstrate that building up isn't some magical elixir for housing prices. See also e.g. Hong Kong.)
