When I was at UCLA, I took a class on compilers where we could write our compiler in any language we wanted. I had recently discovered Stratego/XT in some random wikiwandering, and decided to use it for my compiler. In the end, the typechecker and register allocators were kind of messy, but the rest got written using `aVerySmallSedScript <slides.txt >pass3.str`
Sadly, the developers of the system got their PhD and moved on, and the system has long-since bitrotted :-(
- icsa 6y agoI was a big fan of Stratego/XT as well. Expressing optimizations was very straightforward.
