The first link talks about results for some of the challenges.
- _Microft 6y agoSurprisingly, these are actually the full challenges. The PDF can be found in the Internet Archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20090407054314/http://www.darpa.mil/dso/personnel/23_math_chall_b_mann.pdf https://web.archive.org/web/20090407054314/http://www.darpa....
- schoen 6y agoThe number of problems (23) and the relatively high-level phrasing is presumably a reference to Hilbert's problems. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilbert%27s_problems https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilbert%27s_problems Wikipedia notes that they "ranged greatly in topic and precision". :-)
- _Microft 6y agoThe list was also discussed on "The n-Category Café" and received mostly negative opinions on the quality of the problems: https://golem.ph.utexas.edu/category/2007/12/challenges_for_the_future.html https://golem.ph.utexas.edu/category/2007/12/challenges_for_...
