I honestly cannot come up with any other explanation for why this is not taught in schools other than due to propaganda for Western powers.
- csande17 6y agoFWIW I was taught about this, including a link to this exact website, in my US middle school. It felt a little silly at the time because even the ancient rolly-up map at the front of the classroom used the Robinson projection, which does not distort relative sizes nearly as heavily.
- zokier 6y agonever attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity "Stupidity" might be bit harsh here, but the principle applies.
