The scientific evidence seems to indicate no net effect on annual deaths from lockdown, when comparing Sweden vs Norway though:

Indeed Sweden's annual deaths are shaping up much like prior years, and COVID deaths now are in the low single digits, against about 250 people who die every day in Sweden from any cause.
- tveita 6y ago> Covid-19 associated mortality rates were 0.2 per 100,000 (95%CI 0.1 to 0.4) in Norway and 2.9 (95%CI 1.9 to 3.9) in Sweden. You can shuffle around numbers to narrow that distance a bit but you're starting with hell of a disadvantage. Afaict the article you linked only suggests there /may/ be some mortality displacement, it certainly doesn't say "no net effect".
- IronRanger 6y agoWe'll have to wait for annual death statistics for the final answer. So far, Sweden's annual deaths are tracking the same as prior years: https://www.statista.com/statistics/525353/sweden-number-of-deaths/ https://www.statista.com/statistics/525353/sweden-number-of-...
