What I’d tell my own kids about piracy
- aurizon 6y agoWhy pirate if you can get it legally. Streaming services with the budgets of all will do this. Assess the cost of a theater blockbuster for a family of 4, with popcorn, or even for a couple, and you can see how a subscription based stream program is the way to go. Get rid of $100 cable bills and have streaming buyers feed you the $$
- salawat 6y agoPrinciple. Acknowledging and accepting copyright is to acknowledge and accept that some people have a right to hold everyone else hostage over chunks of the human knowledge space for the paltry purpose of financial gain. Not for safety. Not for privacy. For creating profitable asymmetries to exploit. I don't buy it. Keep your plays, your shows, your novels. Hold it tight to your breast if you want it. But turn it into 0's and 1's and my, see how it flies!
- IndySun 6y agoNo limits? Is financial gain 'out' from now on for anything that can be digitized?
- IndySun 6y agoYes. I think the post alludes to this. Restraint with 'sharing'. But they mention, kids growing up now are not going to be enamoured with an mp3 the way parents were with LPs. And it's impossible to stop digital products leaking to all and sundry.
