  Malaysia has sharia courts for Muslims, so while their stance on uygurs is obviously good, the country is pretty iffy on human rights :(

    Honest question: if it's only for muslims, is it possible to renounce the faith and not have to abide to it?

      Renouncing islamic faith is cause to be sentenced to death by said islamic court. No loophole there.

  From the Wikipedia article “Islam in Malaysia”, under the section “definition of Malay”: “As defined by the Constitution of Malaysia, Malays must be Muslim, regardless of their ethnic heritage; otherwise, legally, they are not Malay. Consequently, apostate Malays would have to forfeit all their constitutional privileges...” I’d consider it less of championing humanist causes, more a Sunni government will not hand over their followers to concentration camps. A good thing, but giving up a refugee to that fate risks an intense domestic backlash.
