- pinewurst 6y ago"The Strip", the book that this is excerpted from, is _really_ a great, fun read.

- gxqoz 6y agoAgreed, this was a great book. One element it traces is the evolution of neon sign design in Vegas. Many casinos were essentially designed around their signs, which often dwarfed the buildings.
- Animats 6y agoAh, the days of roadside attractions. Northern California once had The Nut Tree, in Vacaville. This was a roadside restaurant between SF and Sacramento, one so huge it had two exits on I-80, an airport, and a narrow gauge railroad. Operated 1921-1996. Now a mall.
- pinewurst 6y agoThe gift shop there had a great collection of airplane books.
